Grosvenor defeat Lisburn 43 – 5 in a Pre Season Friendly at Blaris.
Covid19 Guidelines were meticulously followed in yesterday’s Pre Season Friendly between Lisburn and Grosvenor at Blaris.
The game was split into 4 quarters, with unlimited running substitutes to give both sides the opportunity to rotate squads, giving players valuable game time.
Grosvenor, from Ulster Rugby Championship Division One, proved too strong for Lisburn with the visitors dominating set and loose play over the 80 minutes.
Andrew Kelly started the scoring for Grosvenor, after 12 minutes, when he rumbled over for an unconverted try after a series of drives.
On 20 minutes Mattie Kelly broke from a maul to score a try, converted by Adam Sexton. Shortly afterwards Andrew Kelly added another try under the posts, again converted by Sexton.
Grosvenor continued to starve Lisburn of possession and their No. 19 scored an unconverted try out wide after 32 minutes.
On a rare excursion into the Grosvenor ‘22’, Jack Harper scored an unconverted try for Lisburn, after 36 minutes, to leave Grosvenor leading 24 – 5 at the half time break.
Grosvenor served up similar fare in the 2nd half, though continuity suffered on both sides from all the substitutions. A Paddy Hamill try and 2 tries by Jonny Farquhar, 2 converted by Tim Emerson, completed the scoring.
To their credit, Lisburn never gave up, ending the game on the attack. The 5 – 43 scoreline did not mirror their effort.
