Battle of Belmont

Grosvenor 3s travelled to Belmont to play CIYMS 3s in a wind dominated match. Despite the strength of the wind neither side kicked too much and the deciding factor was the carrying of the home forwards.

Grosvenor could have scored early on , through a searing break from centre Shane Johnston, but the final pass went astray. Grosvenor dominated territory but were unable to translate this aspect of play into points. CI had a heavy pack and were dominating the Grosvenor lineout, but eventually Craig Steele got over for an unconverted try to give the visitors a 5-0 halftime lead.

With such a gale blowing , this scoreline was unlikely to be enough as the persistent carrying ability of two particular CI forwards gave them a 17-5 victory.

Grosvenor 3s fought hard throughout and defended well, however the CI pack were the deciding factor.
