The 2nds welcomed Dromore 2nds to Gibson Park on a bright sunny day ideal for open rugby. The game started at a frenetic pace with both sides running the ball at every opportunity. After ten minutes Mark Johnston gathered a loose ball on halfway and sprinted for the line only for the visitors scramble defence to stop the move inches short of the line. Dromore then carved out an opening for their speedy right winger to scorch in for a great try 5-0.
Grosvenor fought back and after pressurising the line Lewis Young burst through for a try. 5-5. Grosvenor began to dominate proceedings but couldn't capitalise due to poor lines out and not finishing off several golden opportunities.
Hasan was yellow carded for an attempted intercept and Dromore converted the resulting penalty 5-8.
Grosvenor's scrum was causing the visitors all sorts of difficulties. From quick lineout ball Lewis Young burst through the middle and popped the ball to Stevie Burrows for a try 10-8 HT
Grosvenor started the second half strongly creating several chances which they failed to finish off. Connor McCormick and Johnny McCoubry made several charging runs deep into Dromore territory and Stevie Burrows went in for a try converted 17-8.
A few minutes later Neil Adams made a clever blind side break and fed winger Ross who executed a neat chip n chase to score in the corner 22-8. With a few minutes left on the clock veteran prop James Bowman sprinted in from 20 metres for a great try, converted 29-8 Full time
A splendid win from a very talented side who played some terrific rugby. A bit of work is needed on finishing off chances and executing simple two-on-ones and they'll be a force to be reckoned with at this level.
MoM is Stevie Burrows for his all action performance which he rounded off with two tries.
